As a key material in the upstream of the LED industry, the hardness of sapphire substrate is second only to diamond, and using traditional mechanical processing is very difficult;
But its application in the field of LED substrates has unique advantages compared to silicon substrates and silicon carbide substrates. In 2014, the self-sufficiency rate of the Chinese market for sapphire substrates was only about 10%, with the vast majority relying on imports.
The graphical sapphire substrate process developed by the SDYX R&D team overcame problems such as high investment, unevenness, low efficiency and low yield. A research team with Guo Wenping as the core was established. It has established close cooperation with Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other universities and research institutes, and carried out collaborative innovation from technology, materials, equipment, process to process control and quality inspection.
Among them, the nano patterned sapphire substrate (NPSS) wafer is the first in China, with world-class technology and a market share of over 50%.
