SKKI Industries, a global leading manufacturer of colorless polyimide (CPI) film, recently stated that it has provided a colorless polyimide (CPI) film to Xiaomi for use as a cover for Mix Fold foldable smartphones.
Xiaomi's goal is to ship about 500,000 foldable smartphones. The company has prepared an initial inventory of 30,000 units for Mix Fold. This phone is priced at 9,999 yuan.
SKKI is one of the few companies in the world that can produce CPI covers.
So far, SKKI has provided CPI for Huawei Mate X and Motorola Razr.
In addition to Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo also plan to use SKKI's CPI cover for their foldable phones.
SKKI's CPI diaphragm is also used in Lenovo's Thinkpad X1 Fold notebook computer launched in North America last year.
Lenovo is preparing to launch a successor to the 13.3-inch notebook computer.
SKKI emphasized that CPI film is more price-competitive than ultra-thin glass, and it is not easy to break.
SKKI expects its supply of CPI covers to increase by 60% every year.
