Titanium-aluminum alloy engine blades for C919 large aircraft Hay:A04ZKYJ

Recently, the ZKYJ High Performance Metal Research Institute issued an announcement that the titanium-aluminum alloy engine blades successfully developed by ZKYJ will be used for the first time in the supporting engine CJ1000 of the C919 large aircraft, replacing the The LEAP-X1C engine developed by CFM which jointly established by General Electric and Safran of France. It has broken the situation of relying on imports.

The engine blades conquered this time are a huge breakthrough in the field of Chinese aeroengines. If aviation is the heart of large aircraft, blades are the most difficult technology among them. As for the blades of commercial aircraft, not only should they meet the requirements of aircraft’s heat resistance, shock resistance, hardness, etc., but also reduce the weight to the greatest extent and ensure the longevity, so as to maximize the commercial efficiency of large aircraft. The density of the titanium aluminum alloy developed is only 4.0kg /m3, which can greatly reduce the weight of turbine blades, which is of great significance to the CJ1000 engine. The brand-new engine blade has passed the vibration fatigue assessment, and the overall effect has reached the ideal expectation. The next step is to conduct the blade installation assessment, which is one step closer to entering the actual commercial flight. According to the introduction of ZKYJ researcher, in addition to the acceler ation of the CJ1000 engine, the current upgraded version of the CJ2000 engine is also stepping up technical research. It is expected that the overall weight of the CJ2000 will be lighter, while the engine life and fuel consumption will be further reduced, further increasing the international competitiveness for the commercial use of large aircraft.

With the accelerated development of the CJ1000 and the CJ2000, the day when China’s large aircraft uses its own aero engine is just around the corner. In the future, domestically produced large aircraft will use domestically produced engines, which will not only be a matter of pride, but also a major and profound change in the global aviation industry.
