Toray Composite Materials America released the latest structural prepreg CMA 3900

According to Toray Composite Materials America, Inc.'s announcement on the company's website on March 16, the company's latest structural prepreg CMA 3900 has been listed, with an extensive publicly permitted design database.

The SAE Material Committee has formulated a new AMS specification (AMS6891) for Toray 3900-2 unidirectional and fabric products. These materials certified by the AMS6891 specification are now available for purchase. In the next revision of the CMH17 manual, 5 batches of 3900 allowable design data will be released. Allowed test plans and data sets are created in accordance with FAA requirements and are intended to be used for the design and certification of commercial, space, and defense primary structural applications.

Toray's 3900 prepreg system realized a step change in transportation system design by replacing metal structures with composite materials. Compared with the traditional metal design, the transition to composite materials greatly reduces the structural weight, thereby achieving a longer service life, higher life cycle cost and lower carbon emissions.

The 3900 prepreg system expands Toray’s product range with easy-to-obtain allowable data sets. Toray’s 2510 autoclave prepreg system is also suitable for existing AMS specifications, and has the capabilities of the NIAR/NASA/AGATE alliance. 3 batches of data sets are allowed.

It is reported that Toray is committed to providing publicly available permitted data sets for the full range of products, and is currently working on using the next generation T1100/3960 prepreg to generate a wide range of 5 batches of data sets.

About Toray 3900 prepreg system

The 3900 series prepreg is a highly toughened 350°F (177°C) curing material system that can be used for one-way tapes for manual or automatic tape laying applications, slit tape tows for automatic fiber placement applications, and plain carbon fiber and glass fiber. Fabric.

The main advantages of 3900 series prepregs are reflected in:

· Mechanical stability; the mechanical working life of the product exceeds 40 days;

· High toughness: The combination of high-strength fiber and granular interlayer toughening can reduce delamination and improve fracture toughness, impact resistance and environmental resistance;

· Mature technology: The product has been successfully applied in many fields, including the main structure of aircraft, for more than 25 years;

· Consistency: Uniform resin content and noble resin system allow predictable thickness and parts.
