The project uses super stainless steel, heavy-duty wheel steel, high-end bearing steel, and high-voltage and high-frequency contact alloys as research and development objects to reveal the service behavior and failure mechanism of materials in typical harsh environments, to achieve breakthroughs in material preparation technology and long-life application technology; develop environmental protection With marine engineering series of super stainless steel, new materials for heavy-duty train wheels, long-life contact materials for UHV power grids, and typical bearing life extension technology for aviation, the above-mentioned key materials are domestically produced and technology is autonomous. The implementation of the project has broken through the technology of high-end materials for major equipment in the fields of aviation, electric power, marine engineering, heavy-haul transportation and other fields, and is of great significance to promote the technological progress and product upgrade of key materials for high-end equipment in China.

During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, in order to further promote the scientific and technological innovation and industrialization development of China's materials field, the Ministry of Science and Technology formulated the "13th Five-Year Plan" special plan for science and technology innovation in the material field.
