NBDC Special Material Technology Company, was established in 1985, was the first "national key high-tech enterprises" and "national-level innovative enterprises". It is the earliest (1996) technology-based enterprise engaged in the development and production of ultra -high molecular weight polyethylene fibers and its high-performance bulletproof composite materials in China.
The company has successively established a post-doctoral research station, high-performance fiber and composite materials engineering and technology centers. It had already implemented three national high-tech “863” plans, three national high-tech research industrialization projects, and one national major scientific and technological research project.It has accumulatively applied and authorized 26 national invention patents, 17 utility model patents, 4 international PCT patents, and 1 US patent.It already passed ISO9001 international quality system
certification, GJB9001A military product quality management system certification.

In 2005, it was awarded first prize for scientific and technological progress in Ningbo, the first prize for scientific and technological progress in Zhejiang Province, and the second prize for national scientific and technological progress in 2009.
In 2005 and 2008, it was listed as the National Bulletproof Equipment Mobilization Center and the mobilization base for the development and manufacturin g of bulletproof equipment in the Nanjing Military Area.
In 2015, the company obtained certification for national confidentiality qualification at level three, and obtained the qualification certification of the weapons and equipment manufacturing unit in 2016.
In 2017, it was listed as the first batch of military-civilian integration demonstration enterprises in Zhejiang Province.
