Using Carbon Fiber as Prestressed Reinforcement, China’s Large Suspension Bridge Wins Luban Award

On December 10th, the China Construction Industry Science and Technology Innovation and 2018-2019 China Construction Engineering Luban Award (National Quality Engineering) Commendation Conference was held in Beijing, and the Luzhai Extra Large Suspension Bridge constructed by Hunan Luqiao Group won the Luban Award.

The Aizhai Super Large Suspension Bridge is a control project of the Jicha Expressway. Construction started in October 2007 and was opened to traffic in March 2012. The Aizhai Bridge spans the Aizhai Grand Canyon at 355 meters, creating four world firsts: the span between the two cable towers of the bridge is 1176 meters, and the spanning canyon spans the world's first; for the first time, the structural design plan with the tower and beam completely separated; It adopts rock anchor sling structure and uses carbon fiber as prestressed reinforcement; for the first time, the "rail slip method" is used to erect the steel truss girder.

The carbon fiber composite strand is 1×7Ф12.5mm, the anchor cable N1 structure uses 12-24 carbon fiber strands, the design tension is 2100kN, the anchor cable N2 structure uses 12-9 carbon fiber strands, and the design tension is 850kN.

The specifications of carbon fiber composite strands are: guaranteed breaking load value Fk≥184kN, elastic modulus E≥1.55x105MPa, nominal diameter 12.5mm, effective cross-sectional area 76mm2, guaranteed strength ≥2421MPa, breaking elongation ≥1.7%, unit and quality 145g / m, the relative density is 1.6.
