Mitsubishi Chemical's official website announced on June 17 that the company's carbon fiber composite products were adopted by Yachiyo Industry Co., Ltd. to produce the roof of the Honda S660 model.
In order to produce this carbon fiber composite roof component, Yachiyo Industries has adopted the PCM prepreg molding mass production process, which is compression molded at 140 degrees Celsius. The production cycle is about 5 minutes. Compared with the traditional roof, the weight is reduced by about 22%, which effectively reduces the center of gravity of the car. At the same time, the carbon fiber fabric also gives the roof a more free design.
At present, the automotive market is facing many severe tests. Carbon emissions related policies are continuously tightened, people are increasingly demanding for lightweight vehicles, and electric vehicles are gradually entering the historical stage. In order to actively meet these challenges, Mitsubishi Chemical will accelerate the research and development of carbon fiber composite materials, promote technological innovation in lightweight vehicles, and provide more practical solutions for the automotive industry.
