Applied Graphene Materials (AGM) Introduces a Series of High Performance Anticorrosive Coatings Genable® 3000 to Meet More Harsh Environment

In the first half of 2018, Applied Graphene Materials (AGM) launched their latest and groundbreaking Genable® 3000 series products. Genable® 3000 dispersions are graphene-based active non-metallic anti-corrosion additives. Extensive testing has shown that these products provide excellent corrosion protection. As with all Genable dispersions, their formulations take full advantage of the graphene materials and ultimately result in industrial coating formulations with excellent corrosion resistance.

AGM is reporting the results of further testing, which not only highlights the product's anti-corrosive performance potential, but also emphasizes the commercial appeal of the product-especially in the more severe C4 / C5 corrosive environment.

The C3 epoxy primer system has been incorporated into industry standards and passed a periodic salt spray test (ASTM G-85-94.Pro). GnEnable® 3000 series materials have been proven to have a coating life that is five times longer than before. The film is only 60 microns thick. These exciting results are supported by detailed mechanical data sets and adhesion studies between PU topcoat coatings. All the results confirm that the product can develop into a commercial preservative system.

To further investigate whether the Genable® 3000 series can be used in more demanding environments, AGM has embarked on another test program to study higher performing primer systems. This high build primer is approximately 110 microns thick and is thinner than many industry standards in the C4 / C5 category (ISO12944).

The characteristics of the Genable® 3000 series make it an ideal additive that can significantly improve coating performance. As a non-metallic additive capable of providing durability, Genable® 3000 is expected to be used in industrial areas with high humidity and strong atmospheric effects, including mid-salinity to high-salinity offshore areas. Longer durability and thinner flexible coatings are directly equivalent to saving users a lot of cost.

Genable® 3000 series dispersions were originally available in epoxy resins, but have recently been developed for a range of solvents and waters.

All AGM's Genable® dispersions are formulated for long-term stability and are designed to be easily incorporated into existing manufacturing processes. Following the recently introduced Genable® 1000 series (for enhancing the performance of existing anti-corrosion additives) and Genable® 2000 series (specially used for corrosion suppression of aluminum substrates), more products will be introduced later.

Salt spray test

AGM's Genable® 3000 active corrosion inhibitor is used instead of zinc phosphate, and the primer coating life of the circulating salt spray (ASTM G-85-95 PROESION) is more than 5 times the previous.
