Borealis and Bockatech collaborate to develop foam injection molding EcoCore technology

Corretto is a recyclable, reusable cup for fast food restaurants and food providers

Borealis AG (based in Vienna, Austria), a provider of polyolefins, basic chemicals and fertilizers, announced the establishment of a new strategic partnership with Bockatech, a British manufacturer of early green technology and sustainable packaging EcoCore technology. This open and innovative cooperation can accelerate the development of Bockatech's technology and expand the business platform of the two, so that the company can serve more companies in multiple markets.

As the number of disposable plastic bans continues to grow, especially in the food and beverage industry, the demand for reusable and easier to recycle products is increasing in the market. The cooperation between Borealis and Bockatech meets exactly this need. Combining Bockatech's EcoCore technology with Borealis materials can produce a product development solution for lightweight foam injection molding. The products produced by these joint development programs will be available worldwide.

Material recovery rate up to 94%

The EcoCore technology solution, combined with the products of Borealis under the brand names BH381MO and Daploy WB140HMS, is an environmentally friendly way to produce high-performance packaging (reusable and recyclable). According to a partner (Bockatech), foam molded parts produced using EcoCore technology require less material and have faster recycling times, which reduces material costs, energy use and environmental impact.

The final product (reusable and recyclable) manufactured using EcoCore technology has a high strength and smooth surface (with ready-to-print conditions). Because the material is made of foam material, it is super lightweight and has good thermal insulation. The high strength of this material also makes them an ideal choice for waste recycling programs. This program has proven that it can provide a material recovery rate of up to 94% and reduce the probability of plastics entering the marine environment. As a single material package, the EcoCore technology solution can achieve 100% recoverable rate.
