BorgWarner has reached a cooperative relationship with the leading domestic new energy vehicle brands to provide them with iDM fully integrated drive modules. The cooperation with this new energy vehicle brand is the first complete vehicle platform project in China that uses iDM as the vehicle power drive assembly in BorgWarner. This solution combines high-efficiency motor controller technology, BorgWarner's award-winning hairpin stator winding technology, and advanced drive systems, and is perfectly integrated into a scalable and compact packaged module. It is reported that this electric vehicle equipped with BorgWarner iDM will begin mass production in 2021.

BorgWarner's iDM series products have the characteristics of high integration, high efficiency and light weight. They are available in three models (iDM 90, iDM 120 and iDM 160). They can be easily installed in electric vehicles according to OEM design architecture and different application scenarios On the front or rear axle.
The main advantages of the iDM series products are their scalable and modular architecture, and support for various gear ratios and motor sizes. The working voltage of iDM is 220-480V DC voltage (VDC), which can provide power of up to 150Kw and torque output of 3000N.m. According to customers' different vehicle voltage platforms, this series of products can be further expanded to 160Kw and 3800N.m. This advanced electric drive product ensures that the motor runs smoothly and quietly, while its hairpin flat wire stator winding motor technology provides superior performance and outstanding noise, vibration, and harshness. This electric drive is suitable for A- and A + -class passenger cars and SUVs. It is worth mentioning that all components used in the iDM module are mature technologies independently developed by BorgWarner and can be used as highly integrated modules or independent new energy vehicle drive system solutions. In addition, the product supports various software function requirements of the vehicle platform and provides advanced version controllers that support vehicle dynamics and energy management. Its software architecture meets the current market requirements, is easy to integrate in common platforms such as AUTOSAR, and can meet ASIL D safety level requirements. In response to the ever-increasing demand for data exchange in modern vehicle systems, BorgWarner's advanced controllers can also be used with CAN, CAN FD bus and flexray.
