Extra coarse grained and ultra-fine/nano hard alloy for cemented carbide Hay:A04HNBY

Throughout the country and even the world, there are only a handful of companies that can mass-produce nano-tungsten carbide. HNBY Cemented Carbide Technology Corporation is one such enterprise.

HNBY has successfully broken through the technical difficulties in the two extreme directions of “extra-coarse-grained” and “ultrafine/nano cemented carbide” in the field of cemented carbide. Carbide Tooling and Die Engineering Technology Research Center, etc., and will be recognized as China’s national “hidden champion” enterprise in 2021.

“In the field of cemented carbide, ‘ultra-fine/nano’ and ‘extra-coarse-grained’ are the two most technically difficult directions.” HNBY’s CTO Dr. Long told the Hay Think team:

“Ultrafine/nano” cemented carbide refers to nano cemented carbide with a WC grain size of less than 0.2 microns;

“Extra-coarse-grained” refers to extra-coarse-grained cemented carbide with a WC grain size greater than 6 microns, which is widely used in shield tunneling, mining and other operations under extreme working conditions.

In the nano-tungsten carbide production line in the HNBY production workshop, batching, forming, sintering and other processes are completed in one go. The person in charge of the workshop said that HNBY will complete customized production according to different customer needs to meet the needs of different manufacturing scenarios.

Compared with traditional cemented carbide, nano cemented carbide can effectively solve the problem of ultra-high cutting of difficult-to-machine materials such as superalloy, titanium alloy, composite material and hardened steel while maintaining higher hardness and strength. It improves the machining efficiency and is the preferred tool material for aerospace and high-end equipment manufacturing.

Compared with international high-end brand tools, the overall efficiency of the solid carbide milling cutter made of nano-hard alloy developed by HNBY has increased by 45% to 50% in the processing of automobile hardened steel molds.

In 2019, HNBY, together with Central South University, China Railway Construction Heavy Industry and other units, began to get involved in the research and development of extra-coarse-grained cemented carbide. A year later, the “Jinghua” shield machine equipped with the shield cutter head developed by HNBY rolled off the production line. Major project. The characteristics of “less loss and high efficiency” have also brought HNBY, a supporting enterprise, into the public’s field of vision.

In 1994, under the leadership of Huang Boyun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, HNBY chose one of the most “hard” businesses – the production of cutting tools for synthetic diamonds. Thanks to the high-quality scientific research strength of Central South University, the company’s products are favored by the market as soon as they are launched.

In 2004, HNBY broke through the research and development technology of 0.4 micron in the field of “ultrafine” cemented carbide; in 2008, it broke through 0.3 micron; in 2016, it broke through 0.2 micron;

It is worth mentioning that HNBY was selected into China’s national high-tech research and development plan (863 plan) three times in 2002, 2009 and 2013. “Being recognized by the ‘863 Program’ is an affirmation for our products, and it is a great affirmation for our innovative R&D direction.
