A French engineering company has adopted and certified a new thermal insulation system loaded with Solstice® liquid blowing agent in its Mark III and Mark V1 carriers.
October 13, 2016 – Honeywell announces that its low global warming potential insulation material has been approved by Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT), a leading French engineering company, for use in LNG carriers. GTT has granted Honeywell Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA) certification for loading on new insulation systems for Mark III and MarkV LNG carrier vessels. The insulation system was provided by HanKukCarbon of South Korea.
Since the temperature of LNG must be maintained at cryogenic temperatures (-163 ° C) to maintain its liquid state, thermal insulation performance is critical for LNG carriers. Once the temperature reaches the boiling point of LNG (-161 ° C), it will vaporize, leading to the loss of high-value natural gas. The thermal insulation system made of Solstice LBA can effectively maintain the temperature of Mark III Flex and Mark V vessels, thus achieving ultra-low LNG evaporation rate.

GTT is a designer of cryogenic film container systems for the transportation and storage of liquefied gas, especially liquefied natural gas. Currently, more than 300 LNG carriers in the world have adopted GTT technology.
