Wuhan University of Science and Technology State Key Laboratory of Refractories and Metallurgy won the 2018 China Science and Technology Industrialization Promotion Association Science and Technology Award

On November 28th at the China Science and Technology Industrialization Promotion Association Science and Technology Awards 2018 Awards Conference held in Beijing Xiyuan Hotel, the State Key Laboratory of Refractories and Metallurgy of Wuhan University of Science and Technology The key technology and industrial application of CSN composite sleeve preparation for rollers won the second prize of scientific and technological innovation. This is the first time that the school has won this award.

Furnace bottom roll casing is the key material for processing silicon steel in continuous annealing furnaces. Since the 1970s, high-temperature carbon casing has been relying on imports from Japan, which is expensive, has a low life, and is prone to nodules, which has affected the quality of silicon steel products. It is a "bottleneck" problem that restricts the production of silicon steel in China.

The key laboratory Zhu Hongxi and Deng Chengji carried out exploratory research from 2001. In 2005 and 2006, they carried out related basic research in Wuhan Science and Technology Bureau and Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Department, respectively, and Henan Gongyi Taiwei High Temperature Ceramic Materials Co., Ltd. Product research and industrial application research jointly conducted with WISCO. In 2009, the CSN composite high-temperature furnace bottom roller sleeve developed by this project was tried out at the WISCO Silicon Steel General Plant, and achieved good results: the number of nodular grinding rollers and the time consumption of the grinding rollers were different. Reduced by 35.3% and 29.5%; the service life of the high temperature section of the continuous annealing furnace is 105.8% longer than other furnace bottom rollers, which meets the needs of silicon steel production. Because the service life of the product developed by the project is significantly higher than similar Japanese products that represent the international advanced level, and the price is far lower than Japanese products, it has completely replaced Japanese products and achieved significant economic benefits.

After grass-roots declaration and expert recommendation, form review, organization of expert preliminary evaluation and review committee review and publicity, and finally the review by the Science and Technology Promotion Committee reward committee, this year, a total of 90 science and technology projects (individuals) have been awarded science and technology by the China Science and Technology Industrialization Promotion Association Awards, of which two projects in Hubei Province were awarded, one was from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, and the other was a joint project of enterprises and scientific research institutions.
